Royal Artist Club

We created the Royal Artist Club blogging platform for Nokia. Using the Royal Artist Club (RAC) blog, bands can easily reach their fans, sharing their life as it happens.

The challenge

The challenge was to create a mobile blogging platform for artists, back in 2006. The whole idea of RAC was to enable fans and artists to have a closer relationship – so fans would get exclusive content from bands on which they could comment.

What did we do?

We quietly made history, building a blog platform that allowed bands to post video content to RAC from their mobile devices. We created the technical solution for video conversion ourselves and were one of the first to do this (remember this was 2006). In addition we’ve produced all the videos that appear on the RAC website, including interviews and documentaries. All the videos are scripted, directed, shot, edited and produced by Luxus.

RAC wasn’t just a technical challenge, though. Getting new bands involved takes time and building good artist relationships is essential. This means we spend time getting to know each artist on RAC. By keeping in regular contact, being available when we’re needed, and by making things work, we’ve managed to build a community of 50 bands in RAC. And we’ve been able to offer fans unique moments with their favourite artists thanks to our close relationships with them.

The results

RAC is one of our longest continuous projects, running since 2006. Over time RAC has been adapted and updated, it has lately been integrated with WordPress, and the RAC mobile site is still going strong.
